VIRAL HEPATITIS | Cause, Symptoms & Homeopathy

Viral hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver caused by virus. It is also called as infectious hepatitis.
Noninfectious hepatitis is mainly due to alcohol, some drugs and chemicals, metabolic disorders, autoimmune diseases and obesity.
It can present in acute (less than 6 months) and chronic states (more than 6 months)
Commonly three types of hepatitis viruses are seen which are Hep A virus, Hep B virus and Hep c virus.

Hepatitis A

It is one of the most common viral hepatitis. It is caused by hepatitis A virus, a picorna virus.
It is transmitted through fecal-oral route. It can be seen only in acute stage and gives lifelong immunity. Hepatitis A is widespread in parts of the world that are poor, over-crowded and have limited access to sanitation and clean water, such as Africa, India, Pakistan & some parts of the Middle East and South America

Symptoms
·         low grade fever – usually no higher than 39.5C (103.1F)
·         Joint pain with low back ache.
·         feeling and being sick
This may then be followed by symptoms related to the liver becoming infected, such as:
·         yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
·         passing very yellow or dark coloured urine and

Management
Patient is advice to take rest, increase fluid intake and follow low protein diet.
Homeopathic medicines are really helpful to cut down the duration and sufferings.  Homeopathic medicines will listed below which should be taken as per your homeopath’s advice.
Complications tend to only occur in people with pre-existing liver disease and /or elderly people, with the most serious being liver failure (where the liver loses most or all of its functions).

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is caused by hepatitis B virus, a hepadnavirus . 15% adults who are infected with hepatitis B virus are unable to eliminate the virus after initial infection which leads to a chronic hepatitis B, possibly resulting in serious liver damage. Hepatitis B is one of the most common cause for the liver cancer.
Transmission
It is a sexually transmitting disease.  It can be spread through blood and body fluids like semen and breast milk.
It can be spread through sharing needles and cotton from a HBV infected person.
A new born baby can get infected during delivery if mother is infected with HBV. It can be spread through breast feeding also.

Symptoms

It may tale about 60 to 140 days to start showing the symptoms of HBV infection. Sometimes it may not show any symptoms at all and they become chronic carriers.
Symptoms can include:
·         flu-like symptoms, such as tiredness, general aches and pains, headaches
·         feeling sick
·         lack of appetite
·         being sick

Treatment

Hepatitis C

It is caused by hepatitis C virus. It is more common in England. It lead to chronic hepatitis and patient may be unaware of hepatitis C infection as it rarely shows common hepatitis symptoms.
Acute infection with HCV may rarely cause FHF. Approximately 70-90% of patients with hepatitis C become chronically infected.
HCV can be transmitted through contact with blood (including through sexual contact if the two parties' blood is mixed) and can also cross the placenta.

Homeopathy for Viral hepatitis

Homeopathy is safe and effective in all type of viral hepatitis. Homeopathic medicines can be used as preventive as well as curative for viral hepatitis.
It has been evidenced that homeopathic medicines not only reduce the period, or duration, of the illness, but also possible complications. Each epidemic, of course, will have its own homeopathic medicine (called Genus epidemicus).
In acute hepatitis homeopathy has a specific treatment protocol and in some cases details case-taking will be needed.
In chronic cases, a detailed case-taking will be necessary to obtain an individualized homeopathic remedy.
