HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT OF INFANT COLIC

Colic is the medical term used to describe the excessive and frequent crying in infants who otherwise appear to be healthy and well fed.
Whilst being a common condition, it still remains very poorly understood. There is also no evidence that colic has any long-term adverse effects on a baby’s health.
For parents however, it can be extremely distressing, especially as there are limited treatment options with conventional medicine.
Homeopathic Treatment:
In homeopathy there are a number of remedies that are useful.
- Chamomilla 30: This is the medicine for an intensely irritable colicky baby who appears angry. They want to be carried around which seems to soothe them. They get some relief from something warm being placed on their tummy. The tummy will be distended and they may pass small amounts of wind. A great remedy to use if your baby is teething.
- Colocynthis 30: If your baby is relieved by having some presure on their tummy by laying them over your knee, use this medicine. This baby will get some relief from passing wind or from the firm pressure.
- Nux Vomica 30: If your baby’s tummy appears tight and there are seemingly spasms of pain with constipation.
- Natrum Phos 3X tissue salt helps neutralise acids and aids digestion.
- Magnesium Phos 3X is another tissue salt that helps with cramps, spasm and pain. It works best when administered in warm water and can be given at the same time as the Natrum Phos 3X.
- Lycopodium 30: Flatulence and gurgling tummy with bloating may be present. Your baby will be better lying on the right side.

Dengue fever | Cause, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Prevention& Homeopathy

Dengue fever or breakbone fever is an infectious mosquito-borne disease caused by dengue virus characterized by body pain, retroorbital pain and high fever.
Globally, 2.5-3 billion individuals live in approximately 112 countries that experience dengue transmission. Annually, approximately 50-100 million individuals are infected.

What cause dengue?

Dengue is spread by a type of infected mosquito called the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The mosquito bites throughout the day and night.

Transmission of the dengue virus happens in a cycle. An infected human is bitten by a mosquito, the infected mosquito then bites another human, and the cycle continues

There are four different strains of the dengue virus: DEN 1, DEN 2, DEN 3 and DEN 4

If you are infected by a strain of dengue virus, you will get a lifelong immunity for that particular strain of DEN virus.

If you are re-infected with another strain of DEN virus, you may have chances of more serious illness.
Dengue cannot spread one person to another.

Factors believed to be responsible for the spread of dengue include the following:

  • Explosive population growth
  • Unplanned urban overpopulation with inadequate public health systems
  • Poor control of standing water and vectors
  • Viral evolution
  • Increased international recreational, business, and military travel to endemic areas
Signs and symptoms of Dengue

Initial Dengue infection may be asymptomatic.
Classic Dengue is identified by
·         A high body temperature
·         Retro orbital pain (Pain in the back of eyes)
·         Head ache
·         Diffuse muscle pain
·         Diffuse bone pain
·         Weakness
·         Sore throat
·         Centrifugal maculopapular rash
·         Vomiting

A small percentage of people who have been infected before may develop hemorrhage.
·         Bleeding from gums
·         Blood in stool ( Black coloured stool)
·         Red spots on skin
And this is called as Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Rarely it get complicated and leads to thrombocytopenia (reduction in the platelet count in blood) which can cause severe bleeding and finally end up in dengue shock syndrome

How dengue is diagnosed?

Your doctor can diagnose dengue by virus or blood tests

Laboratory criteria for diagnosis include one or more of the following:
  • Isolation of the dengue virus from serum, plasma, leukocytes, or autopsy samples
  • Demonstration of a fourfold or greater change in reciprocal immunoglobulin G (IgG) or immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody titers to one or more dengue virus antigens in paired serum samples
  • Demonstration of dengue virus antigen in autopsy tissue via immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence or in serum samples via enzyme immunoassay (EIA)
  • Detection of viral genomic sequences in autopsy tissue, serum, or cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) samples via polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

How can we prevent Dengue fever?

Get away from mosquitoes is the first thing to prevent Dengue.
To reduce the mosquitoes, eliminate the places where they lay their eggs.
Clean water containers

Dry the artificial containers which hold the water in and around home.
When possible, wear long sleeves and pants for additional protection.   Also, make sure window and door screens are secure and without holes. If available, use air-conditioning.

Maintain personal hygiene.
Homeopathic preventive medicines are available to prevent dengue.

VIRAL HEPATITIS | Cause, Symptoms & Homeopathy

Viral hepatitis is the inflammation of the liver caused by virus. It is also called as infectious hepatitis.
Noninfectious hepatitis is mainly due to alcohol, some drugs and chemicals, metabolic disorders, autoimmune diseases and obesity.
It can present in acute (less than 6 months) and chronic states (more than 6 months)
Commonly three types of hepatitis viruses are seen which are Hep A virus, Hep B virus and Hep c virus.

Hepatitis A

It is one of the most common viral hepatitis. It is caused by hepatitis A virus, a picorna virus.
It is transmitted through fecal-oral route. It can be seen only in acute stage and gives lifelong immunity. Hepatitis A is widespread in parts of the world that are poor, over-crowded and have limited access to sanitation and clean water, such as Africa, India, Pakistan & some parts of the Middle East and South America

Symptoms
·         low grade fever – usually no higher than 39.5C (103.1F)
·         Joint pain with low back ache.
·         feeling and being sick
This may then be followed by symptoms related to the liver becoming infected, such as:
·         yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
·         passing very yellow or dark coloured urine and
·         pale faeces
·         Nausea and vomiting with abdominal discomfort.
·         itchy skin
Symptoms usually clear up within 15 days or 1 month.

Management
Patient is advice to take rest, increase fluid intake and follow low protein diet.
Homeopathic medicines are really helpful to cut down the duration and sufferings.  Homeopathic medicines will listed below which should be taken as per your homeopath’s advice.
Complications tend to only occur in people with pre-existing liver disease and /or elderly people, with the most serious being liver failure (where the liver loses most or all of its functions).

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is caused by hepatitis B virus, a hepadnavirus . 15% adults who are infected with hepatitis B virus are unable to eliminate the virus after initial infection which leads to a chronic hepatitis B, possibly resulting in serious liver damage. Hepatitis B is one of the most common cause for the liver cancer.
Transmission
It is a sexually transmitting disease.  It can be spread through blood and body fluids like semen and breast milk.
It can be spread through sharing needles and cotton from a HBV infected person.
A new born baby can get infected during delivery if mother is infected with HBV. It can be spread through breast feeding also.

Symptoms

It may tale about 60 to 140 days to start showing the symptoms of HBV infection. Sometimes it may not show any symptoms at all and they become chronic carriers.
Symptoms can include:
·         flu-like symptoms, such as tiredness, general aches and pains, headaches
·         feeling sick
·         lack of appetite
·         being sick
·         yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
Investigations

·         Blood routine
·         Liver function test
·         HBsAg
·         AFP
Treatment
Homeopathy has a specific treatment protocol for hepatitis B in acute or chronic stages. A detailed case taking will be done to get in to your homeopathic remedy. Consult a homeopath to get it cures.

Hepatitis C

It is caused by hepatitis C virus. It is more common in England. It lead to chronic hepatitis and patient may be unaware of hepatitis C infection as it rarely shows common hepatitis symptoms.
Acute infection with HCV may rarely cause FHF. Approximately 70-90% of patients with hepatitis C become chronically infected.
HCV can be transmitted through contact with blood (including through sexual contact if the two parties' blood is mixed) and can also cross the placenta.

Homeopathy for Viral hepatitis

Homeopathy is safe and effective in all type of viral hepatitis. Homeopathic medicines can be used as preventive as well as curative for viral hepatitis.
It has been evidenced that homeopathic medicines not only reduce the period, or duration, of the illness, but also possible complications. Each epidemic, of course, will have its own homeopathic medicine (called Genus epidemicus).
In acute hepatitis homeopathy has a specific treatment protocol and in some cases details case-taking will be needed.
In chronic cases, a detailed case-taking will be necessary to obtain an individualized homeopathic remedy.
Here are some homeopathic medicines which are commonly used in acute hepatitis. You are not allowed to treat it yourself without your physician’s advice.

Gout | Cause, Signs & Symptoms Treatment & Homeopathy

Gout is a disorder of purine metabolism, occurring especially in men, characterized by a raised but variable blood uric acid level and severe recurrent acute arthritis of sudden onset resulting from deposition of crystals of sodium urate in connective tissues and articular cartilage.
It is a painful condition of small joints as uric acid crystals get deposited like a needle in the joints.
Uric acid is usually harmless, and is made in the body. Most is passed out with the urine, and some from the gut with the faeces (stools). In people with gout the amount of uric acid in the blood builds up. From time to time the level may become too high and tiny grit-like crystals of uric acid may form.
Deposited uric acid crystals may form a lump in the joints which is called as tophi.

Some people have a high level of uric acid but do not form crystals or have gout. Also, rarely, some people with a normal level of uric acid have gout attacks. However, as a rule, the higher the level of uric acid, the greater the chance of developing gout.

Scientists estimate that 6 million adults age 20 and older report having had gout at some time in their lives

What cause Gout?

A number of risk actors are associated with high uric acid level and gout attack.

·         Genetic: - In many patients with gout has family history of the same. Estimates range from 20 to 80 percent.
ender and age. It is more common in men than in women and more common in adults than in children.
·         Obesity: - High uric acid level I seen in overweight subjects.
·         Alcohol conception: - Too much alcoholic drinks especially beer can cause hyperuricemia(High uric acid level in blood)
·         Diet: - Foods which are high in purines can cause or aggravates gout. Those who suffer from gout should limit the foods which are high in purines like meet, Beer, anchovy, spinach Etc
·         Some health conditions: - Renal insufficiency is one of the most common cause of gout where kidney fails to eliminate uricacid from the body.
Some conditions like Hypertension, hyperthyroidism, Psoriasis, Kelley-Seegmiller syndrome or Lesch-Nyhan syndrome, Hemolytic anemia, Lead poisoning Etc
·         Some medication can cause gout: - Diuretics, which are taken to eliminate excess fluid from the body in conditions like hypertension, edema, and heart disease, and which decrease the amount of uric acid passed in the urine
§  Salicylate-containing drugs, such as aspirin§  Niacin, a vitamin also known as nicotinic acid§  Cyclosporine, a medication that suppresses the body’s immune system (the system that protects the body from infection and disease). This medication is used in the treatment of some autoimmune diseases, and to prevent the body’s rejection of transplanted organs.
§  §Levodopa, a medicine used to support communication along nerve pathways in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.

Sign and symptoms

·         Intense and sudden onset of pain in effected joints usually at night
·         Redness with shiny skin over effected joints
·         Swelling or lump caused by tophi due to deposition of uricacid crystals which are tender to touch
·         There can have high uric acid in blood
·         Uric acid crystals can be seen in joint fluid

How is gout diagnosed?

It is not so easy to diagnose gout as it mimics many other joint diseases.
High uric acid level is seen in most of the patient with gout but normal uric acid level does not rule out this condition.
X ray of effected join can help to diagnose it
Synovial fluid aspiration to detect the uric acid crystals in it

How is gout treated?

A short course of anti-inflammatory pain killers (NSAIDs) are used to stop the pain and inflammation.
Long term use of NSIDs (Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs) is not healthy as it may damage kidneys.
On Acute attacks apply icepacks to reduce the pain.
